Pittsburgh Weather: Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Incoming Wintry Mix
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Clouds will increase Tuesday evening ahead of a wintry mix that will begin late Tuesday night and last into Wednesday morning.
This mix will feature areas of freezing rain, creating potentially slick conditions. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight until noon Wednesday because of the potential travel issues.
After midnight, areas of rain, snow and freezing rain will spread across the area. With surface temperatures at or below freezing during this time, an icy glaze could form, creating icy surfaces.
This will shift northward, especially during the morning commute.
By noon, warmer air will be winning out, leaving any leftover precipitation as just rain. The afternoon will dry up and warm significantly. These warmer temperatures last into Thursday, but an approaching cold front will stir up rain and thunderstorms. This cold front will drop temperatures enough for some early rain and snow on Friday. Temperatures, however, should be back to more seasonal levels this weekend.
