Pittsburgh Weather: First Alert Weather Day issued with strong thunderstorms possible Tuesday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- We get to dry out for the rest of today with only an isolated rain chance up along and north of I- 80

Today: Most are cloudy through 5 p.m. with places south of I-70 seeing partly cloudy skies for the day.

Alert: Low pressure approaching from the west will kick up scattered showers Tuesday morning. his morning activity will be spotty. As Tuesday heats up, there is growing confidence that strong to severe thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon hours. This will likely continue into the evening.

The main threats look to be strong, damaging winds and hail. While these are the main threats, shear within this system could lead to an isolated tornado.

The severe weather threat should end early Wednesday morning with the passage of a cold front. Rain chances will drop in the wake of that front, meaning drier conditions take over for the afternoon.
