You have likely been feeling the heat and humidity today. While the daytime has been dry, the summer steam provides some of the main ingredients for thunderstorms to develop. An approaching cold front will mix those ingredients late tonight, initiating scattered thunderstorms.

When these storms develop, one or two may become strong-to-severe.  Damaging winds look to be the main threat upon arrival.  Again, any strong to severe thunderstorms look to be isolated.  The better chances for those stronger storms will be in eastern Ohio.

Helping us out will be the later arrival of these storms.  Right now, the earliest thunderstorms are timing in around 10 PM in our northernmost communities.

Downtown Pittsburgh will likely see these storms arriving around midnight.

Most of the storms will be finished with our area by sunrise.  There may be a couple of lingering ingredients, however, that may spark up an isolated thunderstorm Thursday morning.  The ingredients needed for severe weather should be used up by this time.  Any Thursday storms should rain themselves out in a matter of 15-30 minutes.
