Woman shot, killed by police in Pittsburgh's St. Clair neighborhood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A woman was shot and killed by police in Pittsburgh's St. Clair neighborhood on Friday afternoon.

Allegheny County police said Pittsburgh police officers were called to Engstler Street for a reported "suspicious person" around 3 p.m. Officers spoke with someone at the scene, who pointed police to an abandoned house, officials said.

A woman was then seen inside the house by officers, county police said. Officials claim she shot at police. She then allegedly exited the house with a "pistol raised at officers," Allegheny County police said in a release.

Officers shot and killed the woman, who was later identified by the medical examiner as 39-year-old Adrienne Arrington. No one else was in the house.

Allegheny County police will now take over the investigation. No other details have been released about the woman who died.
