PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Service on the Port Authority light rail's Red Line has been fully restored after a downed tree damaged tracks early Sunday morning.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County said on Twitter that a tree fell on a section of tracks in Beechview near the Pennant station.

Crews were dispatched to remove the tree shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say that the size of the tree and the location where it fell made it more difficult to remove.

Red Line inbound service was restored around noon. However, the Red Line outbound was operating on the Blue Line.

Outbound service on the Red Line was restored just before 8 p.m.
