Pittsburgh police motorcycle officer, working with President Joe Biden's motorcade, injured in crash

Police officer injured in crash on Parkway West

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A Pittsburgh police officer was injured in a motorcycle crash on the Parkway West. 

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Monday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 376 near Exit 59 in Robinson Township. 

The motorcycle officer was blocking traffic at an I-376 ramp for the presidential escort when the crash happened, Pittsburgh police said. President Joe Biden's was in town on Labor Day to speak at United Steelworkers of America Local Union 2227 in West Mifflin.

The officer was alert and conscious and taken to a local hospital after the crash, Pittsburgh Public Safety said. The officer was treated and released overnight. 

Pennsylvania State Police are leading the investigation.
