Pittsburgh Police Chief Received Warmly In Homewood, Promises Police Reforms
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police Chief Cameron McLay was enthusiastically welcomed to a church in Homewood Thursday night for a public meeting on police-community relations.
It was standing room only at the Baptist Temple Church, where more than 500 people heard Chief McLay make six public commitments.

The crowd cheered wildly, and gave the chief standing ovations on several occasions.
McLay pledged, among other things, to have more diversity in the police department, have better police accountability, more training and body-worn cameras for officers.
The meeting was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network, representing dozens of churches and faith-based organizations around the Pittsburgh region.

But Chief McLay cautioned the audience that he'd have to have their help to bring law enforcement and the community together and restore trust.
"I'm here to assure you that I'm fully committed to every one of the objectives we've discussed; but if I do it by myself, we cannot heal the wounds that are plaguing this community," Chief McLay said. "I have to have your help."
