Adorable! Meet Pittsburgh's First Babies Of 2020

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh's first babies of 2020 are ready for their big debut.

The little ones were born just minutes apart after midnight. One at West Penn Hospital and the other at Magee-Womens Hospital.

Little Onari made her big debut first at 12:09 a.m. at Magee-Womens Hospital.

"It'll be her little moment," said Erika Peoples, Onari's mom. "I kept saying she was waiting to make a debut. There were a lot of bets with my family and co-workers that I wasn't even going to make it past Christmas but she hung in there. She wanted something special, I guess."

Despite waiting for New Year's Day for a debut, Onari couldn't wait to join the world according to her mom.

"I breathed a lot and then she ended up coming in like three pushes," Erika said. "It took nine minutes because I started at midnight. It's just something amazing and something you don't really know about until they come out and it's like, boom, and they just automatically connect with you."

A few minutes later, at 12:16 a.m. West Penn Hospital welcomed the second Pittsburgh baby of the new year when little Leo came into the world.

"We were being a bit lazy this Christmas just to make sure we didn't induce labor, so then he wouldn't have a birthday on Christmas," recalled Leo's mom Jessica Ciufo. "New Year's is a fun birthday. We're excited to host New Year's Eve parties at our house, very kid-friendly. [We'll] do different things like that for the holiday. It's definitely going to make it a fun holiday."

Leo's dad Mark said he's excited to see what lies ahead as a parent.

"I think that's the most exciting part, letting him be his own little man," he said.
