City Council To Vote On Creating Zoning Regulations For Medical Marijuana

PITTSBURGH (News Radio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh City Council will vote tomorrow on a measure that would create zoning regulations for selling or growing medical marijuana.

Sponsor Corey O'Connor says several people have expressed interest in starting an operation here since state approval earlier this year.

"These are going to businesses that are going to come to the State of Pennsylvania, why shouldn't Pittsburgh capitalize on some of the profits," O'Connor tells KDKA Radio's Barbara Boylan. "And not only that, but we have so many people that need that attention, why not make simpler for them to get there?"

O'Connor's measure would permit medical marijuana sales in the city's business districts.

Growing operations would be limited to industrial areas.
