Pittsburgh International Airport Breaks Ground On New Landside Terminal

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Today, Pittsburgh International Airport broke ground on its new landside terminal.

The project is going to take a little more than three years to complete, but it's reportedly going to transform the passenger experience and advance the region.

The $1.4 billion project will include a new entrance, terminal, and parking garage. The Allegheny County Airport Authority says you can expect to see leading-edge technology, innovation and sustainability once the project is finished.

The construction will happen between the C and D concourses, and crews already have more than 42,000 tons of crushed concrete ready to bring the terminal to life.

By the way, taxpayers are not paying a cent for this project. The airlines that fly in and out of the airport are footing the bill.

The new terminal complex should be completed sometime in 2025.
