Pittsburgh International Airport, Allegiant Air Host "Tacky Tourist" Contest

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A low cost airline called Allegiant Air kicked off their first day in Pittsburgh Wednesday; and would-be travelers turned out in the tackiest tourist outfits imaginable, in hopes of winning one of three free flights for two.

"This is a brand new city for us," said airline publicist Laura Billiter. "And we're launching three new routes today: Punta Gorda, Florida, Jacksonville, and Tampa Bay. And we're having a free flight giveaway, for the people who come here with their bags packed and ready to fly."

Beach balls and Bermuda shorts belied the frigid weather just outside the door.

"After all, it's a chance to make yourself a horse's patootie at the same time and have fun, and maybe win," one woman said.

"That's what I'm looking for, Frisbee at the beach," added a man from Aliquippa.

Each pair of winners received $600 gift cards for hotel accommodations, for three nights in in the Sunshine State.
