Coronavirus In Pittsburgh: Catholic Diocese Loosens Restrictions On Weddings, Funerals And Confession

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is loosening restrictions on weddings, funerals and confession.

Bishop David Zubik says those events can happen in a limited capacity.

Weddings can be celebrated with no more than 10 people, including the priest.

The bishop says couples cannot have a second wedding when restrictions are lifted.

Funerals are also limited to 10 people, and confession can now be held outside while staying 6 feet apart.

Zubik added that with the loss of church offerings amid the coronavirus pandemic, there will be cost-cutting measures within the diocese.

Over the next few weeks, he will be making decisions about possible cuts to parishes, schools and staff.
