Pitt Women's Basketball Player Facing Charges After Incident

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A member of the Pitt Women's Basketball team is facing charges following an incident on campus.

Campus police arrested sophomore Yacine Diop late last month.

She's charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and use of air soft rifles.

The circumstances about what happened are still unclear.

KDKA reached out to the University of Pittsburgh Monday night and officials said the school is aware of the situation and released the following statement:

"This past Thursday, Yacine Diop was given 100 hours of community service. Upon completion of those hours, all charges will be dropped. Yacine expressed sincere regret for her involvement in this situation and we are confident she will exercise better judgment moving forward."
