Pitt Starting Center Rowell To Undergo Season-Ending ACL Surgery

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pitt Panthers (2-0) picked up a big win over Boston College on Friday, but suffered a big blow to their offensive line.

According to a statement from the team, starting center Artie Rowell suffered a torn left ACL and will undergo season-ending surgery.

The injury was sustained during the second quarter of the team's 30-20 win.

"I know I speak for our entire team in saying we are very disappointed for Artie," Chryst said. "I'm certain he will attack his rehabilitation with everything he has to get himself ready for next season."

Rowell had started 15 consecutive games for the Panthers.

The Panthers will head on the road to take on FIU (1-1) Saturday at noon.
