Pitt Running Back James Conner Receiving National Attention

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt Football running back James Conner had the best games of his career in the team's 51-48 loss to Duke on Saturday, putting up 263 yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries and that, along with what he has done the rest of the season has him among the semifinalists for the Maxwell Award.

The Maxwell Award is presented annually to college football's player of the year.

The 20-player semifinalist list includes just two sophomores, Conner and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston.

On the year, Conner leads the country in rushing with 1,342 yards and ranks third nationally with 17 rushing touchdowns.
