Pitt Panthers To Host George Washington In NIT

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pitt Panthers missed out on the NCAA Tournament, but they will play in the NIT.

According to a statement from the school, the Panthers (19-14, 8-10 ACC) were selected as a No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 seeded George Washington University (21-12, 10-8 Atlantic 10).

That game will be played Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.

The winner will move on to face the winner of No. 1 Temple vs. No. 8 Bucknell.

This is the ninth time the Panthers have qualified for the NIT and the first time since 2001.

Pitt's all-time record in the NIT is 6-8 and they have never made it beyond the third round.
