Pitt Football Loses Top Quarterback Recruit To Vanderbilt

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Chris Peak of Panther Lair joined Starkey and Mueller to talk about the major blow to Paul Chryst's upcoming recruiting class as their top quarterback recruit, Wade Freebeck, has switched his commitment to Vanderbilt.

When it comes to how big of a loss this is, Peak says it's a tough loss for the program that could set them back.

"That's not a good thing for Pitt," said Peak. "There's no real rationalization there. He's a good prospect and now their depth at quarterback for the next year or two is taking a pretty considerable hit because they don't have this kid."

Peak also gave us an idea of what kind of prospect Freebeck was and what Pitt liked most about him.

"Freebeck is about six-foot-five, runs about 210-215, he's got a frame that can fill out, he can move a little bit and he's also got a good pro-style quarterback arm and kind of a pro-style quarterback mindset," Peak said.

Peak also filled us in on what the team will have next year in quarterback Chad Voytik and what the rest of this recruiting class will bring in.
