Pit Bull Mauls Owner, Flees Into Woods

WESTMORELAND CO. (KDKA) -- A pit bull that mauled its owner was on the loose in Westmoreland County Saturday.

According to our partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the dog attacked a man at his home on Route 286 in Bell Township.

The man suffered severe lacerations and had to be flown to the hospital.

Police clubbed the dog, sprayed it with mace and used a stun gun to subdue the animal, but it ran off into the woods. Around 8 p.m., the Tribune-Review reported the dog had been captured.
