Pirates Sign Pitcher Radhames Liz To One-Year Deal

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Radhames Liz.

The 31-year-old pitcher is currently pitching in the Dominican Winter League where he has been fairly dominant going 4-0 with a 1.90 ERA (23.2 Inning Pitched / 5 Earned Runs) and 29 strikeouts in five starts.

Liz was previously in the Toronto Blue Jays organization in 2014 where he went 3-2 with a 2.95 ERA in 12 combined starts between AA and AAA.

Liz made his major league debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 2007 and won six games in 17 starts during the 2008 season.

The last time Liz pitched in the major leagues was in 2009, spending the 2010 season with the San Diego Padres AAA affiliate, before heading to Korea where he spent the past three years.

The Pirates have also announced the designation of right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom for assignment.
