Pirates Sign Infielder Robert Andino To Minor League Contract

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pirates announced today that they have agreed to a minor league contract with infielder Robert Andino, which includes an invite to Major League spring training as a non-roster player.

The 29-year-old right handed batting Andino started 2013 with the Seattle Mariners before being designated for assignment by them on May 24.

The Pirates acquired Andino from the Mariners' AAA affiliate, the Tacoma Rainiers, where he hit .229 with five doubles, one triple, three home runs and 12 RBI in 44 games.

Andino was originally drafted by the then Florida Marlins in the 22nd round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft.

Andino also has spent time with the in the Orioles' organization.
