PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - He wasn't even on the roster at the beginning of spring training, but David Freese has now found himself a home for the next few years.

The Pirates have announced a 2-year extension with the first and third baseman.

The details of the deal were first reported by Jon Heyman.

Splitting time between first and third base, Freese has hit .276 with 12 home runs and 49 RBI's while helping stabilize both positions throughout the season.
