Pirates Reliever John Holdzkom Looking To Build Off Successful 2013

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pirates reliever John Holdzkom burst onto the scene late last year giving the Pirates a nice boost down the stretch and he joined Dan Zangrilli at PirateFest to talk about building off that momentum this year.

Holdzkom talked about what it's like looking back on that stretch in which he went 1-0 with an ERA of 2.00 over nine innings pitched.

"During the season I was just trying to play baseball, not think about all the external stuff," Holdzkom said. "But when I got home, that's when it really hit me."

Holdzkom also talked about the difference between last year and this upcoming year as he'll go into the season knowing more what his role will be.

"There is a tad bit certainty, but at the same time I know I still got to make the team," Holdzkom told us.
