Pirates Recall Kang, Take Him Off Disabled List

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially reinstated Jung Ho Kang to their lineup.

The team tweeted the news Friday afternoon ahead of the start of their three-game series against the Cardinals in St. Louis this weekend.

The Pirates recalled Kang from his Triple-A rehab assignment and have taken him off the 15-day DL.

Kang was injured back in September when a player slid into his leg during a game against the Chicago Cubs. He had to be helped off the field by two members of the training staff.

He later underwent surgery to fix a "displaced lateral tibial plateau fracture with a lateral meniscal repair." The Pirates said he would need months to recover from the injury.
