Pirates Place Starter Francisco Liriano On 15-Day DL

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - After leaving Tuesday night's 7-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs due to injury, the Pirates have placed starter Francisco Liriano on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.

On the year, Liriano is 1-6 with a 4.60 ERA in 14 starts striking out 77 while walking 36.

Even more alarming is the number of home runs Liriano has given up this year as he has surrendered 8 long balls while only giving up 9 all of last year.

To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, the Pirates recalled starting pitcher Stolmy Pimentel from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day DL.

Pimentel has been out since May 4 with right shoulder inflammation having made his last appearance on May 1.
