Pirates Place Cole On 15-Day DL, Call Up Locke

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates have added a starting pitcher to the disabled list.

According to the team, Gerrit Cole has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder fatigue.

The move is retroactive to June 4.

Cole is 6-3 with a 3.64 ERA in 12 appearances this season. He has struck out 69, while walking 25.

To fill Cole's spot, the Pirates have called up Jeff Locke from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Locke will start today's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

He has only started one game for the Pirates this season. On May 5, Locke was roughed up for six runs on eight hits in an 11-10 loss to the Giants.
