Pirates Place Andrew McCutchen On Disabled List

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - After much debate over what the Pirates should do with their growing number of injured players on the active roster, the team has announced that they've placed Center Fielder Andrew McCutchen on the 15-day DL with an avulsion fracture involving the costochondral cartilage of the left 11th rib.

The move will be retroactive to August 4th, the last time McCutchen appeared in a game, meaning he'll be eligible for reinstatement on Tuesday, August 19th.

Filling McCutchen place on the 25-man roster will be reliever Casey Sadler as the team recalled the right-handed pitcher from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Sadler was 9-4 with a 3.06 ERA in 18 starts for the Indians.
