Pirates Make Another Round Of Roster Moves

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - As is typical this time of the year, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced another round of roster moves as they trim it down to the 25 it needs to be by Opening Day.

The Pirates have reassigned the following five players to minor league camp:

  • Jake Brigham (RHP)
  • Chase d'Arnaud (INF)
  • Cody Eppley (RHP)
  • Josh Kinney (RHP)
  • Yao-Hsun Yang (LHP)

The club has also optioned the following three players to Triple-A Indianapolis:

  • Phil Irwin (RHP)
  • Chris McGuiness (INF)
  • Brent Morel (INF)

On top of these moves, the Pirates announced that Catcher Chris Stewart is expected to start the season on the disabled list.  This means it's likely that Tony Sanchez will now start the year on the Major League roster.
