Pirates Considering A Move To First Base For Pedro Alvarez

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - With 24 errors this year and throwing issues resembling those that Steve Sax and Chuck Knoblauch went through, the rumblings of moving Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez to first base have begun.

As Mike Axisa of CBSSports.com writes, Alvarez's defense has become such a liability that the team is looking at all of their options and that Manager Clint Hurdle is in discussions about what to do with the reigning National League home run champion.

Pedro leads the major leagues with 24 errors, and to further emphasize the issue here, 23 of those errors are throwing.

Axisa also points out that, with Pedro out of options, sending him to AAA to work on his throwing issues is not a legitimate option.

Back in late June, Pedro sat down with our own Colin Dunlap for an exclusive interview in which he talked about his struggles this year.
