Pirates Claim Third Baseman Off Waivers

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced they claimed third baseman Brent Morel off waivers from the Torono Blue Jays.

The 26-year-old Morel was originally a third-round draft pick by the Chicago White Sox in 2008.

Morel has never made a real impact at the major league level with a career average of .229 with 13 home runs and 54 RBI's in 194 games over parts of four seasons.

Morel finished last year with the White Sox AAA team where he hit only .266 with six home runs and 54 RBI's in 106 games.

The corresponding move to the Pirates' 40-man roster has been announced as the team designated for assignment infielder Chase d'Arnuad.
