Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen, 2nd Baseman Neil Walker Win National League Silver Slugger Awards

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - A pair of Pirates won 2014 Louisville Slugger, Silver Slugger Awards Thursday night - outfielder Andrew McCutchen and second baseman Neil Walker.

It's the third straight season for McCutchen and the first for Walker.

The Awards recognize the top hitters at each position in the American and National Leagues and have been handed out annually since 1980.

Votes are cast by Major League coaches and managers, who consider a combination of offensive stats.

Russell Martin and Josh Harrison were up for awards, but the Giants' Buster Posey won as the NL catcher and Washington's Anthony Rendon won at third base.
