Pirates Activate Chris Stewart From DL, Option Tony Sanchez To AAA

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced two roster moves - both involving catchers.

First, the team activated Chris Stewart from the disabled list and have recalled him from his minor league rehab assignment.

During his rehab, Stewart hit .333 with two RBI in five games, splitting time between the Double-A Altoon Curve and Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.

In order to activate Stewart, the Pirates had to clear a spot on the 25-man roster, and that move was optioning catcher Tony Sanchez to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Having started the year with the Pirates, Sanchez started in two games, appearing in three, hitting .375 in eight plate appearances.
