Philly Police Seek Driver Who Purposely Ran Down Crossing Guard

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police are looking for a driver who they allege purposely hit a crossing guard after she yelled at him for almost striking a child with his car.

Philly.com says police announced the manhunt Thursday, but say the incident happened a day earlier about 8 a.m.

Police say the car turned left and nearly hit the child even after the guard had stopped traffic so the child could cross the street. When the crossing guard yelled at the man, he put the car in reverse, backed over a median, then hit the guard.

Police haven't released the guard's name, but say she was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus with injuries to her right arm, left knee and shoulder.
