Pens Unveil New Third Jersey

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins unveiled their new third Jersey Friday.

The new jersey is predominately black with yellow sleeves, playing off of Pittsburgh's black and gold colors.

The team unveiled the jersey with a video featuring Sidney Crosby wearing one.

On the their website, the Pens say "gold returns to the ice," and that the team will wear the alternate jersey 12 times in the upcoming season.

It'll make its first debut at the the home game against the Philadelphia Flyers Oct. 22.

The jersey will also be sold at PensGear stores, at both CONSOL Energy Center and the store at the SouthSide Works.

In the past, the Penguins have sported alternate jerseys in baby blue and navy blue for the Winter Classic.

KDKA Radio's Larry Richert and John Shumway also got a preview of the new jerseys.

Senior Vice President of Sales and Service for the Penguins David Peart gave Larry and John each a custom "Pittsburgh Gold" jersey.
