Pens Recall 3, Place Bennett On IR

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins have made several roster moves ahead of their season-opener tonight against the Anaheim Ducks.

According to the Penguins' official website, the team has recalled forwards Zach Sill and Andrew Ebbett. Defenseman Taylor Chorney has also been recalled.

All had been previously assigned to Wheeling in the ECHL.

To make room for the trio, the Penguins have placed Beau Bennett on injured reserve. Bennett suffered a leg injury during practice on Sept. 26.

Bennett appeared to be seriously injured as he was helped off the ice after teammate Kasperi Kapanen's skate clipped his.

Bennett only played in 21 games for the Penguins last year as he dealt with injury troubles.

As for Kapanen, many felt he would at least get a brief shot with the Penguins to start the season. However, that is not the case.

The Penguins have assigned him to KalPa of the Finnish League.

The Penguins host the Anaheim Ducks tonight at 7 p.m.
