Pens Analyst Bob Errey Talks Team's Composure, Emotional Play

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - ROOT Sports' Penguins analyst Bob Errey joined Starkey and Mueller live in-studio today to talk about the Pens recent play and the issues they've been having when it comes to keeping their composure and whether or not the star players get treated differently by Dan Bylsma than the other guys do.

"Jokinen's foul was a little touchy I thought last night, and Malkin's was a little touchy the other night," Errey said.  "That doesn't mean that Evgeni Malkin has not taken bad penalties, of course he has.  Sometimes you have to handle those guys a little bit differently.  Maybe if it had of been Malkin last night, I have no idea what Dan (Bylsma) what have said."

Errey also talked about how the Pens do need to play with emotion, but have to find a happy medium rather than taking bad penalties like they do now.

"Sidney Crosby can't play without emotion.  Evgeni Malkin can't play without emotion.  I don't want them playing without emotion," Errey said.  "But there's a time and a place for it.  If you're down in a situation in a series, you have to read the time and the place.  If you're down 4-1 in a hockey game, I don't care if maybe you do something over over the top.  Not to get suspended, but that's when you get your frustration out.  Not in a 2-2 hockey game."

Errey also talked with the guys about the recent interview they did with former NHL referee Paul Stewart and reacted to the comments he had to make on James Neal, Sidney Crosby as a captain and how teams should keep their own players in line.
