State police shoot, kill armed man in Fawn Township

FAWN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Pennsylvania State Police say troopers shot and killed an armed man in Fawn Township.

State police say troopers were called to a home after a domestic dispute between Kenneth Cervice and his mother. State police said he allegedly threatened his mother, so Cervice's girlfriend brought her to another home on Shamrock Lane for her safety.

While troopers were inside the home talking to the two, Cervice pulled up in his vehicle. Troopers met him outside.

"Immediately displayed a gun and pointed it at troopers and refused commands to drop the weapon, at which point the troopers fired at Mr. Cervice, striking him multiple times," said Captain William Maitland, the commanding officer of Troop D.

Back in 2001, Cervice pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and spend time in jail. Most recently, he was arrested in May for assaulting a woman at a bar. He was charged with simple assault and illegal possession of a firearm for that incident.

Police are investigating the shooting.
