Westmoreland Co. Man Stabbed Over Ringing Doorbell

GREENSBURG (KDKA) - A Westmoreland County man has been charged with stabbing his neighbor over a ringing doorbell.

Police say it was just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday when the doorbell rang at 1506 Elm Street in South Greensburg.

According to the criminal complaint, Dennis Shaw, also of Elm Street, was ringing his neighbor's bell repeatedly.

Those inside the house, including suspect Jay Omar Bustamante, had already spotted Shaw on a surveillance camera and words were quickly exchanged between Shaw and Bustamante.

"A number of us have called the police on him numerous times for just him being disorderly out here cussing and swearing. My daughter doesn't need to hear that," said Molly Shaw, a neighbor. "It's been boiling up."

A fight broke out between the two men and Shaw fell into the grass.

When Bustamante went back inside, the criminal complaint reports he said, 'I'm going to jail, dude. I stabbed him."

Shaw had multiple stab wounds, leaving a trail of blood outside.

Bustamante was jailed on two counts of aggravated assault.

A knife was retrieved from under a couch.

Shaw was hospitalized with three severe stab wounds of the lower back.

"I feel a lot safer he's not home," said Shaw. "My daughter said, 'Oh, we can go outside now.' We call him the boogie man; she stays away from him. He's a very creepy man."
