Pennsylvania Advances Bill To Regulate Fantasy Sports
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania House of Representatives committee is advancing legislation that would regulate and tax daily fantasy sports betting in the state.
Wednesday's unanimous vote by the House Gaming Oversight Committee came after lawmakers began studying the idea last year.
The sponsor, Rep. George Dunbar, says fantasy sports betting can continue as an unregulated industry for now in Pennsylvania.
Under the bill, fantasy sports companies such as FanDuel and DraftKings would have to apply to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for a license and pay a quarterly tax based on in-state participation.

The Fantasy Sports Trade Association says participation in North America has reached more than 57 million players.
States are increasingly moving to regulate the games, while several state attorneys general have declared the companies illegal gambling operations and ordered them to cease operations.
