PennDOT: Full Parkway East Closure This Weekend

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's likely to be another weekend of long lines of traffic because of the closure of the Parkway East in both the in-bound and out-bound directions.

The closure is necessary because contractors working on the Greenfield Bridge replacement are putting the finishing touches on the new bridge arches, and metal decking will be installed in advance of paving in the spring.

Posted detours will direct drivers to the same routes and patterns motorists used during previous closures. Off-duty police officers will be posted at key intersections to keep things moving as smoothly as possible.

To see full maps of the detours, visit the links below:

In-bound traffic will be detoured at the Wilkinsburg exit and will follow Penn to Fifth Avenue and re-enter the Parkway in Oakland.

The in-bound Parkway will be open to the Edgewood\Swissvale exit, but that will be for local traffic only.

Out-bound traffic will exit at Oakland and follow Forbes and Fifth Avenues through Wilkinsburg to the Parkway.
