Penn State Fraternity Suspended After Hazing Investigation
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - A Penn State fraternity deemed to have violated penalties imposed over hazing, alcohol use and other behavior has been closed temporarily.
The national headquarters of Pi Kappa Phi said Thursday it moved to shut down the chapter because members did not follow standards of conduct.
The suspension comes as local police investigate another Penn State fraternity for a secret Facebook page that contained naked or semi-nude photos of women, some of them asleep or passed out.
The university's Interfraternity Council says the Pi Kappa Phi chapter has been charged with violating rules about hazing, alcohol use, disorderly conduct, providing accurate information and registering social functions.
The chapter can't return for at least three years.
A phone listing for the chapter house rang unanswered before the line went dead late Thursday.
