Penn Hills School District: AG Probing Online Posts Of Student Pics

PENN HILLS, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - A Pittsburgh-area school district says the state attorney general is investigating online posts of "inappropriate photos and comments about female students."

The Penn Hills School District says students told the high school principal about the postings made using the online name "Penn Hills Exposed" on Oct. 22. That was the same day that officials from the Attorney General's Office gave students a presentation on Internet safety.

The district says the website was dismantled later that day. The district is also doing its own internal investigation.

"The site was taken down by someone that same afternoon. No district technology was involved in the creation of the site," the district said in a statement.

A former school board member who saw the site says it included nude pictures of young girls, along with sexually explicit comments.

The Attorney General's Office doesn't typically confirm or deny investigations.

"We want to assure the parents that when the district became aware of the situation, it acted immediately and appropriately to involve the proper authorities. Our first priority was and continues to be minimizing attention to this website and in so doing, protecting the students who were victims of this website from further exposure," the district said.
