Penn Hills School Board To Vote On Plan To Furlough 43 Teachers

PENN HILLS (KDKA) – Tonight, the Penn Hills School Board could decide whether to layoff dozens of teachers.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the proposed plan would furlough 43 teachers and eliminate more than 20 courses next school year.

The president of the teacher's union told KDKA it would affect mostly high school teachers in the special education, art, technology and social studies departments.

The school board is expected to vote on the measure tonight.
