MCKEESPORT (KDKA) – Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting in Penn Hills.

Allegheny County sheriff's deputies arrested 20-year-old Steven Sparrow at a townhouse on Bridge Street in McKeesport Wednesday morning.

Sparrow was wanted for shooting 26-year-old Andre Williams in the head at point-blank range. Police say it was over two ounces of marijuana, worth less than $1,000.

Police say Sparrow was hiding in a female friend's townhouse. Firefighters brought in a heat-sensing camera which tracked Sparrow to the attic.

But he didn't give up easily. Sheriff's deputies say they negotiated for about 40 minutes and were ready to call in the SWAT team when Sparrow finally surrendered.

He is now being held in the Allegheny County Jail, facing charges of homicide, robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.

The female friend was taken away on an unrelated, outstanding warrant.
