PENN HILLS (KDKA) - A man died early Tuesday morning after getting struck by a vehicle on Sandy Creek Road in Penn Hills.

Investigators say just before 4 a.m., a vehicle struck the victim who had been walking north in the center of the northbound lane.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and called 911 immediately.

"What we're trying to figure out now is where the victim was coming from and where he was going," said Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman.

Lt. Schurman said Allegheny County Police Collision Reconstruction and Homicide Unit responded to the scene to assist Penn Hills Police with the investigation.

Investigators have not yet released the 37-year-old victim's name. The driver had been on his way to work at the time of the incident and was not impaired.

Investigators did say the area of the crash is not well-lit.

"That area does not have a lot of street lights, there's not sidewalks there," said Lt. Schurman.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Allegheny County Police at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
