77-Year-Old Man Killed In Penn Hills Car Crash

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- A man was killed in a car crash in Penn Hills early Sunday morning.

According to police, one driver crossed over the center line and struck a second vehicle travelling in the other lane at the intersection of Sandy Creek Road and Allegheny River Boulevard around 1:20 a.m.

The man in the second vehicle, identified as 77-year-old Charles Bonavita of Verona, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the first car was injured.

The identity of the driver who caused the crash has not yet been released.

Police are investigating and looking into the possibility of alcohol being involved.

Officers say if alcohol was involved, the driver who caused the crash could face charges of homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence.
