Penguins Reportedly Planning Outdoor Game At Heinz Field

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins will reportedly play an outdoor game at Heinz Field next year, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Post-Gazette reports that the Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers are working on an agreement for a series of outdoors games. The 2017 game at Heinz Field would be the first in the series, and the next would take place in Philadelphia in 2019.

The Penguins have not released an official statement, but an anonymous team official told the Post-Gazette they suspected the game would happen.

The Penguins last played at Heinz Field for the 2011 NHL Winter Classic game. The Post-Gazette says the 2017 game would not be a Winter Classic, but a game in the NHL's "Stadium Series."
