Penguins-Rangers Tickets For Game 7 Down 16% Since Sunday

(TiqIQ/CBS) - After having a commanding 3-1 series lead, the Pittsburgh Penguins will have to play a Game 7 against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night. As the series heads back to Pittsburgh, ticket prices for Tuesday's decisive game have dropped significantly on the secondary market since the end of Game 6, according to TiqIQ.

Currently, the average price for a ticket to the game at Consol Energy Center is $247.17, a 16.15% drop from an average of $294.76 before the start of Game 6, which is the lowest home average among remaining playoff teams. The Penguins have played poorly as of late and have allowed eight goals over the last two games. A Game 6 loss in New York has not helped secondary ticket prices either, as Penguins tickets continue to decline before Tuesday's game.

The cheapest secondary price for Penguins tickets at the Consol Energy Center has also decreased since the finish of Game 6 at Madison Square Garden. Fans will find the cheapest secondary ticket at $109, down $3 from yesterday. The cheapest face value ticket is currently $121.05, almost 10% higher than the cheapest secondary market ticket.

In what has been a roller coaster series, the Rangers have played with a new-found sense of pride and passion and comfortably took Games 5 and 6 from the Pens. Martin St. Louis has carried the team both physically and emotionally over the last two games, scoring a goal in last night's Mother's Day game that he dedicated to his late mother, who passed away last Thursday. The Penguins will have to channel the drive they played with earlier in the series and, perhaps most importantly, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury will have to keep the puck in front of him. Fleury has struggled enormously and has not received much help from a weak offense, who have put up just two goals in the last two games.

The Rangers have never won a series against the Penguins in the NHL playoffs and they have also never won a series when down 3-1. However, the Penguins have a grim 2-6 record when playing Game 7 in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh was able to recoup after some shaky play in the first round to avoid a game 7 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, while the Rangers needed seven games against the Philadelphia Flyers to set up the series against the Penguins. While prices are well below what they were at the start of this series, Penguins fans will hope the team's play reverts to what it was was during those games.
