Penguins' Perron Hoping To Turn It Around For The Postseason

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Penguins forward David Perron is hoping to turn it around for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The former first-round pick has only 2 points in the last 14 games.

Perron was acquired from Edmonton in January to help replace Pascal Dupuis on the first line.

General Manager Jim Rutherford looked like a genius the first few weeks. Perron had 8 goals and 12 points in the first 14 games.

Perron told KDKA-TV's Rich Walsh, "I think I fit in well."

Growing up in Québec, Perron was a big fan of both his hometown Montreal Canadiens as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins. One of the main reasons why Perron rooted for the Pens was he admired and idolized Mario Lemieux.

"It's awesome to get to know him and be around him, and after wins he comes down in the room, and it's special to play for his team," said Perron.

Perron will likely start the post-season on Evgeni Malkin's line against the New York Rangers.

Perron said the two have good chemistry, "I felt extremely good with Geno."
