Penguins Forward David Perron Excited For Opportunity With New Team

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - New Penguins Forward David Perron joined the Starkey and Mueller Show to talk about his new team and the opportunity he has to play alongside Sidney Crosby.

Things opened up with Perron talking about what it has been like going from one of the worst teams in the league in the Edmonton Oilers to one of the best in the Penguins.

"It's obviously a good feeling that way," Perron said. "I was so really emotionally involved in Edmonton, once you turn the page and obviously where we were in the standings over there wasn't fun in a way to be a part of -- to be coming here, and I already knew Kris Letang a little bit, and just having the opportunity to play with that type of team is really exciting."

Perron has another year left on his contract and having been placed right on Sidney Crosby's wing, he talked about his future with his new team and if he could see himself staying here for the long-term.

"I think it's up to me to prove it," Perron said. "I don't want to put crazy expectations on myself, I just want to come in and work hard and by getting more shots to the net and getting better as a player, trying to listen to my teammates and coaches, I'll get better. Hopefully eventually I'll be that guy for a long time eventually."
