Penguins: Dupuis Out Of The Lineup, Taken To Hospital As Precaution

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Penguins announced that Pascal Dupuis would be out of the lineup Friday night against the Edmonton Oilers.

According to the team, Dupuis was taken to the hospital because of "symptoms that may or may not be related to his blood clot history."

The team released this statement from General Manager Jim Rutherford on their website:

"We've said all along that Pascal's health is the highest priority. We will take every precaution necessary to ensure he is in good health."

Dupuis' season was cut short last year when he was diagnosed with a second blood clot in 11 months.

His problems began back in December of 2013 when Dupuis suffered a torn ACL, MCL and PCL in a game against the Ottawa Senators.

After experiencing chest pain and coughing fits for days, Dupuis was diagnosed with his first blood clot.

The Penguins say they will not comment further on his condition at this time.
